PILOT STUDY FOR THE CREATION OF A STROKE MODEL IN RABBITS USING ENDOVASCULAR TECHNIQUES

Abstract Introduction Due to the clinical implications of stroke in patients, “2IQBIONEURO” project promoted by Interreg VA Spain-Portugal programme (POCTEP) aims study treatment neurological diseases associated with ageing. The aim was evaluate feasibility technique selective cerebral artery (CA) embolisation for creation a model rabbits. MRI monitoring performed before after (2, 5 24 hours). After hours, evaluation macroscopic postmortem tetrazolium were performed. Results Successful occlusion achieved all animals whose lesion observed on MRI. Conclusions development rabbits is feasible, can be used preclinical stroke.
